Round 2 Result....Perch Rock 6/11/22

22 Anglers made their way out behind the fort hoping to get a flat n round combo,as this is the requirement for the remaining league matches. Fishing 3 hours down and 1 back up,it was pretty much a fish fest` with hoards of dogs and whiting biting from the off....Ste Atkinson set the benchmark taking a couple of early rays from the right end,which was a surprise to most of us. A few heavy showers did`nt dampen the spirits and we all kept to our game plans...mine paid off after an hour when i landed a nice 29cm dab on sticky black n razor,meaning i could concentrate for the rest of the match in search of a ray. At the far left end,which is usually better for the flatfish,Dyl was proving the point by taking a flounder,a plaice and topped it off with a lovely sole.
while Ava managed to find a nice ray

Jimmy Redfern continued his good form by taking a couple of rays to get in the mix,and i followed suit to complete my combo.Only 10 of us could complete the double as Dyl snared a ray,which coupled with his 35cm sole was enough to win the match. Dave Lunt took a 79cm ray for the longest fish pool. All in all it was a pretty good match with everyone catching regularly,but a tad frustrating for many as they were pestered with dogs and small whiting.

Great match fish from the off well done Dyl and Kev taking the top 2 hopefully the fish will stay in the river the look on Ava’s face with that ray priceless Dyl told her she needed to cast a bit further to get a ray 20 yds later

Very enjoyable match with lots of fish caught. Frustrating fishing 2.5hrs for a dab , but I love the format.

Myself and Ava enjoyed that one even after a soggy start.
Very happy with my first Sole weighing 470g so just over 1pound
I had 4 different flatfish in the first half of the match falling to old smelly Rag or Crab claws
Dab 23 flounder 27cm then a Plaice 33cm followed by the Sole 35cm along with 2 nice Rays and a few dogs
It was all still to play for even on the last cast. See a Conger come out to our left it was about 4ft long

Jimmy kept me on me toes all the way through the match
