Round 3 Preview - Vale Park - Sunday 10th November

A competitive yet informal set of matches in and around the Mersey. With only 2 fish to count,it`s a good way to get in to match angling.

Round 3 Preview - Vale Park - Sunday 10th November

Post by Adam Roper »

Round 3 sees us back on the Wirral side of the river at Vale Park down to and over low water. This venue can throw up a wide variety of fish at this time of year with the main target being Codling as well as Whiting and Thornback Ray for the round fish, with Dabs and Flounder being the most likely flat fish options available.

Booking on will be at the normal place at the shelter at the bottom of Magazine Lane from 12:15 - 12:45. Fishing will be from 13:15 to 17:15 with low water at 16:20.

For anyone who has not fished this venue before please note that you will need wellies or waders to walk out ready for the start of the match as there are a number of shallow gullies and pools that you may need to cross to initially get on the bank

Depending on conditions a headlight might be useful as sunset is 16-20 pm.

Tactics....Back on the sand, happy days. Codling are the first target as they usually show in the first hour if they`re on the feed...whiting then move in along with dabs, many of which are small at this venue, but the 20cm rule will be a big help...always worth putting a ray bait out @30 mins either side of low as a thorny or two are often taken in the early winter matches here....the further you cast early on,the further you`ll get pulled to the left, which can cause problems if there`s 25 lads out there,so i try to find a happy medium until the flow fades, then try to put the baits out in the deeper water....good luck boys
