Made the most of the current high tides and went out last night with Rowley onto the prime beds at St. Annes to pump and stock up the freezer. We soon managed 150 between us and happily walked off before l/w (no point over doing it). Got home and blanched the worms and by that time it was 21.15 and rather than try to dry them off before wrapping and freezing, I decided to leave them over night on paper. This morning after 10 hours has passed since leaving them last night, the worms are in excellent condition, firm and dried perfectly. No need for the kitchen roll to assist drying. In the past I've blanched and taken time to dry them off with towels, but no more, I'll just leave them and let them dry naturally.
The thought of leaving them to dry naturally came after a previous session when I dropped a worm on the garage floor and didn't notice it until next morning. When I picked it up (to throw away) it felt in very good condition, so the seed was sown.
