After a very quiet few hours at Otterspool yesterday I now have just the butt section and rod tube of this rod for fishing. After trying everything to separate the top section from the middle the carbon has now split. Despite using all the methods suggested to split the sections I got annoyed with my lackof success and got a couple of pairs of pliers on the job.Thinking was that maybe a damaged ring might be a small price to pay for seperating the sections.Well it didnt budge and the carbon just split.
I should have realised this rod was a lemon as when I bought it in 2013 the sections wouldnt fit together.The spigots were too big for the female sections, wouldnt even go in a centimeter. I had to get the wet and dry on the shafts to make them fit snuggly.I should have looked on Amazon as the reviews state this was a problem with these Penn rods. On my session yesterday the sections went together very easily as I take great care in not over doing it but for some reason they wouldnt come apart.
Anyway for anyone thinking of buying this beach caster I would consider my decision carefully.I am out £90 for a rod used no more than 8 times. Take note of the reviews you see on it particularly with regard to the joints,they dont fit from new. I should have sent the rod back immediately.
Anyway thats it folks,now in the market for a beach caster.
