Penn 525 SuperMag Xtra Repair

Bought Joe's Penn 525 SuperMag Xtra which just needed a new mag plate. Spent ages trying to find the right schematic (Penn only has the GS, the MagT, the old mag and the new mag2) and couldn't get in contact with anyone to get spares. So what to do. It was a beautiful sunny crisp day so I spent all day in a dark damp garage and machined myself a new one.

Cut a chunk out of a sheet of perspex that I've had lying around for years. Drilled a 16mm hole in the middle and stuck in on the lathe.

Noticed the guide pins which are moulded into the side plate had snapped too so had to make the mag carrier a little longer to guide against where the clicker is mounted. Just need an e-clip to prevent it winding off too much.






The thread on the knob is non standard M6x2 so I had to make myself a tap to thread the mag carrier.



Bring on the crack-offs!
