How to destroy an Abu 6500

New ones are going to cost me about £11 from Mr Coogan.

I have 15lb diawa sensor on mine and is a fairly strong line with a low diameter

The idea is that you can cast just hard enough without the need for a shock leader. This saves having to unpick weed off your shock leader knot and getting your gear snagged in the rocks. It also helps to winch in fish against snags and bully them in when they go for the rocks (18lb is probably fine for this).

However this reel clearly isn't man enough for this type of fishing.

That what i thought. Thats why i only fish clean/mixed ground with my 6500

slosh or the 525 they have the guts . or (a fixed spool reel gets it out there and retrieve is faster )

hard luck on the gears.....11 notes isnt bad tho to put it right...as sven just said i like a big fixed spool when im on snaggy ground on the mersey 30lb straight thru and break your lead and reel like f@@@ i only ever fish on cleanish beachs with my 6500`s.thanks for showing us what we all have heard about the 6500 gears.

Thanks for that Spudgun I bought a 6500 for my birthday treat Clean ground only for that reel from now

i think there is a spacer being made to fit over shaft to stop the shaft flexting when giveing it welly

My Mag Elite died on the rocks the other day too....sods law it went when i was trying to reel a codling in i`ve had it for @ 8 years so i can`t complain

Daiwa all the way even the 7ht mag is quite reliable for that kind of ground slosh 20 is the key.
