1st time I've stripped it mate. It was the final straw when it go drowned at Formby.

Shame about the few stripped threads on the drive shaft but does not make a difference. Great reel. Just need to update the old leather (I think) drag washers.

I think I have paid the price of some corrosion on the cage due to not removing the Talon Grip and washing after use.

Spud Gun I could quite possibly marry you! Ive done a christmas strip down and thought to myself how hard can it be

This reel was passed down to me from my old man who bought it new when it was first released. I have a few things missing from your photos.

1. Drag washer which has dis intergrated.
2. Your spacer seems alot bigger between the drag star and your cogs. (there is alot of play in the reel handle on mine is this normal??)

Hope you can help me. Can I use any old washer as a drag washer?

I accept! Don't let Kev know. We're supposed to be getting married today.

Buy some new ones. If you are thinking of metal washers, you will not be able to wind much weight in because there will not be much drag on the metal washers. If you make some out of plastic they'll probably wear out and maybe melt and stick.

Do you mean the two concave washers? Do you have one missing?

Normal of old worn reels I think. Check the reel handle to see if the slot has straight edges or if it's worn in the corners. If it's not worn then check the handle shaft for wear of the edges of the flats.
