How much weight to hold bottom on mersey high otterspool

If fishing the high tides 8-9 meter would an 8 oz weight or would the flow still move it?

Parts of Otterspool can be snaggy.You could try using a gemini style lead with the flexible wire fittings.These will often bend out of snags.I use these types of leads on the Alex.They grip well but release without too much problem.

You can hold with 6oz fine if you cast uptide and let a bow of line out as soon as the lead hits the deck.

Alternatively, don't cast out too far, had some decent fish at Otterspool with my shockleader showing out of the water.

Thanks lads will try the bigger tides on the mersey in future......got lots of breakaway 6 oz leads but was told they wouldn't hold! on spring 8-9 meter tides....so never bothered trying to fish them....
Always opting for the neap tides...

its not holding bottom you have to worry about its the amount of weed to contend with...

You would need to decide High/Low species targetted,comfort factor before you could answer that one
