Rosemary Wood...02/08/2009

Post by Shacky »

Just arrived back from plant picking in Amsterdam (No, the Tulip variety) Dave Van Kam collected me from home, a McD's was in order, so we stopped off at the riversway eatery.
After our fill, Rosemary Wood was the next stop. Most of the regulars were there, but a fast food van had appeared on site
No, we never had anything else to eat. At the draw i pulled out peg 1 again :P
Now, this is the peg with the bridge next to it. Someone had cut the reeds back so it was accessable to fish to. There was no doubt where my baits would be...

I set up the feeder rod and the pole, with corn, pellet & maggots as standby.
Fishing next to me was, err, him and him...

I started on the pole fishing next to the bridge. A take straight away resulting in a carp taking my rig and elastic on holiday under the bridge :( After a few more futile attempts and another lost fish, i opted for the feeder. The same happened again, i could not keep the carp this side of the bridge. I had a few chucks towards the island, nothing there

Back to the bridge, i was still getting takes that were unstopable  Then some kids who were fishing futher up, got bored and started messing arround and stomping across the bridge. Until they were told off, but my swim had gone quiet.

I continued with the feeder and the score was, carp seven, me nil. I switched to the strongest hooklength i had and went for the bully tactics. It paid off for a while and managed to net one :)
I continued to the end of the match with these tactics. The final score was...Carp 15, me 3. For a total weight of 9lb 2oz.

Mark Whiteside won the match with over 60lbs, Well Done :) Colin had holes in his keepnet again Image which could have cost him the match
