The way the Mersey is fishing at the moment I thought I'd have more chance of catching a cod at Scarisbrick than I would at Seacombe.I went for a walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal with an old fishing mate.We both took a spinning rod and a few plugs and mepps.It was freezing cold and blowing a hooley,just the sort of day for lashing a spinner about.My mate was first in with a small perch which took a spinner nearly as big as itself.I continued to lash a diving plug through the water and was rewarded with this beautifully marked 4lb pike.

Shortly after my mate had a smaller pike of 2lb.

All in all it was the perfect way to waste an afternoon

Does anyone know why the pictures from photobucket don't show as they used to It only seems to leave the link

but when I copied and pasted it,just the script came up.

nice one laa, i fancy giving spinning a go this year for bass and was gonna have a few praccy session fishing for pike before the waters warm up and the bass come in so i might have a go there this week

just to try and get the basics
