Sneeking a fishing session - "Feeding the Ducks"

Post by spudgun »

Missus fancied a nice pleasant Sunday afternoon walk down the the river Weaver to feed the ducks with a morri's value loaf. The last time we went I noticed the fish feeding at the surface at the foot bridge.

So I grabbed my little spare spinning spool with the 4lb line and tided a Mustad size 8 spade hook on the end (1st ever spade tie). We got to the bridge and while she was kept busy feeding a little duckling I hooked a tiny piece of bread and lowered it down to the water and let the river take it down to where the fish were feeding. After a few minutes and a few near misses with the hungry duckling I hooked my 1st ever roach.

Put a smile on my face but it's just not quite the same as climbing down some sharp, slippery rocks in the hope of catching something for tea.

Actually think it's a Dace. Not sure. Who cares.
