Re: Pumping lug Sat 28th...Hoylake (Now Sun 29th)
got that weekend off and was thinking of heading out to wales to try and pump, been pumping for a few years but nowhere near as successful as most guys I meet coming off the beaches so hopefully will get down to meet up, as you say I think it's the washers that I'm going wrong on, so I'm trying making some silicones and hope they're cured in time for the session, seen a few videos about making them but not sure about the thickness, I've been using foam kneeling pads to make washers for about 4 years which seem to work but pump is always a lot stiffer than I see in the videos.

I make washers out of old wellies as shown in This Vid I make my bungs out of dogs balls from Pets-at-home...
£3 for 3...slice one end of the ball to get a flat surface, then push the end of the pump through it to get a perfect fit...make a hole through the centre and slide it on to the shaft...you`ll get 2 bungs from one ball...there was a step by step guide on the site but the pics have gone

By far the best bungs for pumping, i leave mine in soapy water over night, slot it in and lasts a few months, plenty of suction till it falls apart, then replace.

i know kev is not going on 28th but are the other lads still meeting on 28th at 4.30. also to make washers using silicon use leadmate silicon its by far the best you can get it from tool station or builders merchant,i use a tray 10mm deep spread vaseline first then spread leadmate leave for a week then use your pump to cut out washers, fantastic suction and they last.
