spinning/plugging/ float rod

after a new one for the summer i was looking at the mike ladle rods but don't know what they're like has any one tried them

and are there any others i should have a look at

I have one of the Mike Ladle 4 sure spin rods Neil. 4 piece rod,comes in its own hard carry case.It is the poodles pendulums.

I will bring it the next time I know you will be out.

get urself a good quality carp rod as any bass plug/spinning angler worth his salt will tell you. 3lb test curv should be perfect

I'm starting to look about myself for a 9' or 10' rod for either 28g poppers , wedges around the same weight (32g I think the dexter wedges are), or able to throw out a 2oz lead for light shore work.

At the moment I'm torn between getting a rod for each job. A 15g-45g Greys G-spin and a flattie rod 2oz-4oz), or going for one of the 20g-60g 9' spin/lure rods.

Would a carp rod do both jobs ? (not knowing anything about carp rods).

The Mike Ladle 10ft 4 piece looks up to both jobs, would you feel happy using it for light shore work Steve ?

I used it in Ireland for spinning off the rocks,using a range of lures.It would probably work well light ledgering for flatties on the Alt,but would probably be too light for ledgering around the Mersey and Dee coastline.

I have the mike ladle surespin 2 piece 11 footer. I use it for plugging / spinning for bass, mackeral, pollack, pike or whatever else comes along. It seems to handle up to 40grams no bother and casts a decent distance too. I also use it for fishing floating baits for carp and have landed many carp of between ten and fifteen pounds very easily. The surespin is much crisper, lighter and stiffer in the butt than most carp rods (i've used few) and would not go back, not even for carp stalking. At eleven foot it is a little long for fishing canals or the sluice in Southport for pike, but great anywhere else. My daughter fights me for it when we both go out fishing, loser gets the carp rod!
