Braid knotes

Just got some whiplash DRX braid. Whats the best shockleader knot to use This braid is coated like nylon, but seems slippy when you run your hand along it,supposedly to aid casting

Google a site called animated knots.That should sort you out.

The simplest one to use is :-
1. Make a loose, normal 'overhand' knot in the thick shock-leader,leave a longish tag-end.
2. Double over the end of the braid to make a 100 - 150 mm long loop.
3. Pass loop through leader knot - then tie a very neat 'uniknot' of at least 8 turns in the 'doubled' braid around the leader line.
4.Gently ease the 'uniknot' together- NOT TIGHT.
5. Pull the leader main line and tag-end hard to tighten the 'overhand' knot.
6. Now spit on the 'uniknot' and pull the completed knot together- very neatly. DO NOT overtighten !
7. Trim tag-ends close to knot.

A dab of superglue on braid knots is useful as well.

That's spot on for 'normal' braids - the ones you can see the individual fibres - but - superbraids that have a 'coating' fused on, do not glue too good - the coating 'slides' off.
One or two points for users of 'superbraids' -
If the outer comes off - you still have 100% line strength.
If you remove the damaged section of line and re-join the two ends with a back-2-back uniknot, the line will act normally when winding in and casting - VERY MUCH NOT like mono !!!

I use the best braid there is IMHO powerpro.It soaks up superglue like Sven soaks up JS smooth.
