Days 1 and 2 were unofficial practice days. Day one was fished at Montrose beach, one of the official match day venues. For David this resulted in 11 sized fish which was reasonable in comparison to other team members. Sized fish being 18cm or over.
Day two the Juniors and Youth teams headed up to Aberdeen beach where they fished a head to head match with each other. The Juniors held there own in this match with David tying with the Youth he was up against with 6 sized fish each. David lost count of the undersized fish he caught after around the 30 mark.

Day 3 was the official practice day on Lunan beach. All went according to plan for David with him coming last in his zone, fishing completely the wrong tactics.

Day 4 and match day one.
We arrived just as the match was starting David was on peg 2 of the end zone. Weather for the duration of the match was appalling with very heavy rain for prolonged periods. Walking along the beach there was evidence of poor preparation from some of the juniors some with no waterproofs and some fishing in trainers.
The fishing on Day one was very very scratchy. David won his zone with two Founder and a Turbot. The only other fish taken in the zone was a pipe fish that was hanging onto a lugworm.
The rest of the junior s ended with two seconds and two blanks. Both seconds lost out to last cast fish.
The senior teams were fishing on St Cyrus beach and had a nightmare with weed and very few fish.

This left Scotland Juniors in 2nd place. The youths and Seniors were both first at this point I think.

Day 5 and match day 2
This match was being fished on Elliot beach and all the teams were fishing here. Due to some interfering by one of the welsh assistants on day one everyone but the stewards and managers were banned from going to close to the anglers. This made it difficult to follow events. The weather was glorious and sunny all day. David this time was pegged on peg 1 zone 1 this time. There were no fish for David for the first hour as he had very little water in front of him and wading to cast was not allowed. Then the sandbar in front of him cleared from the left. This allowed him to be first out and almost immediately into the fish. He proceeded to pull in singles and doubles for the rest of the time on the sandbar with a lot of undersized fish coming in.
Once washed off the sandbar he changed tactics to his beach caster and continued to fish over the top of the bar. Getting fish after fish. Again most were undersized. He ended up with 10 sized fish with the nearest angler on 5 or 6 I think.
The rest of the team ended another zone win for Adam Scholes a second a third and a fourth

This was good enough to retain Silver but unfortunately not enough the get the Gold. The Welsh Juniors took Gold
Both the Youths and Seniors took Gold
