Round 1 saw 23 anglers turn out for the first match of the winter league.we all met up in the carpark behind the fort had a chat and a drink while booking on.
Once everyone was booked on it was time for the golden peg draw so with All 23 numbers on the wheel it was spun and number 5 came out which was Chris James now he just had to win the match to take the pot. 10.30 we all headed out on the beach we were all set up with plenty of time to spare so everyone was up and down the beach chatting soon 11.30 was on us and all in was called. It didn't take long before the odd fish started to show with Dave Radcliffe getting a couple of early fish on the card and big kev getting his combo with his first 2 casts then throughout the fish were coming in from one end to the other mainly dogs dabs and whiting but 2 hrs in and that's all that was being caught then just after half way through Dave Roberts landed a lovely Ray at 69cm so the rays were here so with fresh hope back out with the bigger hooks. But unfortunately to no avail soon enough it was all over and back to the cars the weather had been kind to us with light winds and other than a couple of spots of rain it was quite comfortable until we were all back at the cars and the rain started but didn't last long. It was a great turnout today and was nice to see a few new faces to the group and a few that we hadn't seen for a while so onto the results.
