Help with flattie rig please

I know this is probably a daft question but how would I add a sinker to this set up please?

Ive got one pretty similar only on mine the wishbone end is fixed so to speak. It looks 2 me like you would thread ur main line through the eye of the sinker then tie the line to the bottom swivel on ur pic, then u have a running ledger set up a bit like a carp and barbel set up only for flatties with 2 hooks and attractors.

thanks Mark, that's a useful link. Trouble is I don't have a rig making kit and from the set up displayed it looks like I would need to add a crimp etc- what is the best way to just tie on a line and sinker?

Hi Mike, thread your mainline/shockleader through the swivel and then use a couple of bits of silicone tubing above an below the swivel (loop your main line through them a couple of times) to secure the swivel in place, then attach your lead to your main line. You'd be best adding an impact shield or other clip just above the weight to hold it all together and make castign easier if possible. You need to make sure your line/shockleader is up to casting the weight of the lead though, e.g. at least 10lb breaking strain for each ounce of lead you'll be casting.

Biggest problem with wishbone rigs is that unless you come back with a fish or better two fish the bare rig with bait is very prone to twisting on the retrieve or in strong currents which is why I prefer a straight two or three down or a bomber rig.

Completely agree, I made some lovely beaded & bladed bling wishbones for Morecambe last year and they came back in like someone had been knitting with them, only good at short range and little current.

i find the best way to make the wishbone rig is to use 8 or so 5mm beads either side of the hook line with a crimp at either end to lock the beads in place to give the spread and also use braid so it dont stretch like mono. aslo i keep the total lenth of hook line under a foot then finally mount it on a up an over clip down rig body to get good free movement on the sea bed,,,,, black and green beads seem to work well last year for the plaice
