Sorry for another rod post but would be grateful for your advices. Finally narrowed down my choice to a Zzippy Primo Hi-Flex but before I break the bank, does anyone have one and is it good for the Mersey, where I'd mainly be using it, along with a few jaunts to Wales and Fleetwood? Don't want to be over-gunned though and wonder if tip is sensitive enought to spot the tiddlers I normally catch ? Cheers, Mark
The Primo Hiflex isn't the tippiest of zzippies as it's carbon through to the tip. Have you considered the M4 Hiflex Match Mark? It could be exactly what you're looking for. Plenty of power, Hiflex (C-curve) so easy to load and a glass match tip that shows even the slightest of rattles. It's a fantastic fishing rod and more than capable of handling anything the Mersey can throw at it. Might be worth checking out a few reviews on t'interweb if you haven't already done so.

Cheers Godders, I started off my search with the m4 hiflex and as you say they get rave reviews but the advice I've had is that the Mersey might be a bit much for it, and that the primo has a bit of glass in the mix to soften the tip a bit so best of both worlds?
Go for the M4 hiflex mate I cant fault mine on the mersey or even the rock marks, a lovely fishing rod with plenty of power coupled with a sensitive enough tip. You would not be dissapointed mate.

As Gaz said the M4 hiflex is more than adequate for anything the Mersey can muster up. I've chucked big squid baits and 6oz's with mine and it handles it with ease...there's not a hint of overload, and the few times I've used it on the Mersey recently it's handled the tidal pull without any problems at all. If you get the chance to have a chuck with one I'd certainly recommend doing so.
That said, the reviews I've read of the Primo hiflex are all extremely positive also, so whatever choice you make I'm sure you'll be delighted.
