Was back on bannister house today to make the most of the better weather, i opted for barbel corner on the snake lake to try and stay out of the gale force wind which at times was swirling in every direction, my chosen peg had features on both sides on the inside and a small reed bed at 11metres.



I had good shelter from the wind most of the time as i was sheltered by the tall trees on the bottom of the T pond

Bait today was a mixture of pellets corn bread and hemp, and some spicy luncheon meat flavoured with cajun seasoning

2 power tops set up ...one for the inside lines and one for across to the reed bed, both 3lb bottoms and 16 hook.
I fed all 3 swims with micro pellets and hemp from the cupping kit, and started on tiny cubes of meat, it was quiet for the first hour or so in all swims apart from a few skimmers and roach, after my second feed in all swims i hit a nice fish as 2 blokes were having a chat, and it burned off at a rate of knots, after about 5 minutes of trying to get it off the bottom the hooklength gave way and it was gone. Feeling a bit dis heartened i went back over to the same swim and the float disappeared straight away and i was into another lump, after a similar battle i finally netted a nice barbel around 5 lbs, followed by a carp around the same size.
I switched swims to let the far side rest after hooking 2 fish so quickly, and dropped into the near side left swim, i began catching the little pasty sized carp straight away and after about 6 fish went back across to the reeds, Another lump was hooked, this time throwing the hook mid fight....what a nightmare !!!!
next drop exactly the same.....and once again the hook pulled out mid fight, i couldnt believe it, perhaps i had a good few fish in the swim and as they were competing for the bait i was foul hooking them.
Back to the inside, i couldnt buy a bite in the right hand swim, on any bait, but the left produced a few more carp before i hooked another clonker, after a tense battle i netted a 6 lb barbel then immediately after one of about a pound and a half..then the inside line died.
I had just a few more carp from the far side around 2 - 3 lbs, most of the fish came to meat, but the odd one or two to corn or soft pellets, a struggle at times with the wind turning me sideways as it took the pole, but it looks like bannys is picking up again after the cold snap

dont see why not steve, its a great place to bag up, once the weather settles the catches average around 50lbs-100lbs pleasure nets

its a oops hole, the owner treats his fish with contempt...well he would but he is currently in prison, he offered a couple of my mates money to go and rob fish a couple of years ago...as you can see its not my favorite place

i was talking to the owner tim yesterday, and have seen him on every visit ive made in the last year, so as for him being in prison ..thats not true, ive always found tim to be ok and sue his wife, the fishing is managed by a manager not by tim himself, and the fishery manager is busy every day installing and repairing new pegs on all the lakes,the fishing there is second to none, its the best fishery in the north west, attended by hundreds of top class matchmen every week

i agree it is attended by top class matchmen every week and the fishing can be good...but i still will never fish it again...i myself stopped going when we were told to carry on fishing even though there was a big fish kill at one of his lakes and there was lots and lots of dead fish dying and floating round the lake...all he had to do was turn on the airators but we would of had to stop fishing and he didnt want to lose the money

Was there the other day only pulled some small roach out and my nephew pulled a few small tench out was a good day and i enjoy fishing here.


The lad 10yards to my right was pulling big carp out.
