first coarse match in about 20 years

well the lake i fish has matches on a tuesday evening and thursday mornings, so im going to give tommorows match a go seeing as the kids are off and i dont have to get back to pick them up


so ive got a little tactic sorted out with a back up plan

im planning on fishing right down the side in 18" of water for the carp( only problem is all carp only weigh 3lb's even if they are 10+lb (club rules say no carp over 3lb in nets so all carp get classed as 3lb, so i dont want to catch the real big onesas ty 17-18lb one i had on sunday had me all over thae bloody lake for about half an hour) on punched meat over expanders, ive caught some lovely fish like this lately so hopefully il get a few...i need a back up if the extra pressure from more anglers pushes the fish further out, so il go for the roach that run to a pound on the caster or fish the paste...desissions decissions

one thing i wont be doing is shouting COME ON BIGDAVESFISHING before the start of the match

I fish quite a few open matches in the summer, and never go anywhere without worm and casters, I won a match last night , using worm on the hook and feeding chopped worm and caster, along with pellets, works on most of the waters that I fish, catmeat works well for carp too, but some waters have banned it as they say its too easy to catch the carp on it I thought that was the reason for using bait, to catch fish with

I personaly think it is daft to hold a "match" and limit the carp to 3lb, what happens if you get a load of small carp do they count as 3lb too, if they do, I would fish up in the water and keep spraying maggotts, you will get everything taking them that way, even bream will come up in the water

In Spain they use the cat-meat to feed cats (feline) with.....................When the cat is big enough....................They use IT as bait for Catfish, and then catch a record .

ive had a few out on cat food...but plumrose luncheon meat works wonders...mind you i freeze it, defrost it, freeze it and again defrost it for best results

Hmmmmm. I use that method for another bait, but cannot mention it in the Maggot Drowning Section.

got second ( thats 2 matches in a row now ) in the match from one of the less fancied pegs in the lake

it started off a bit slow probably due to the rain more than anything and after losing 3 carp i eventually got one that weighed 3lb ...in reality it was nearer 7lb but both sides died so i went out to 9M on the caster but that brought me just a small perch so i thought sod it carp or bust



a late run of 3 more carp from the inside and a couple of lovely roach on double caster gave me 14lb 2oz and a couple of quid in my sky rocket, got wet through for it and my fingers look like prunes that have all shriveled up

tonights match didnt go as planned...lost a good carp second cast from my inside swim that spooked the fish till about an hour to go and then they were very caged, at one point i could count 6 good carp at my feet with my bait in the middle of them going round and round in the wash from their tails and it just stayed there

only managed 6lb 5 of 1 carp and bits to get 7th
