Match Report- 1st Round of N.W.A.S.A.C. Personal Members Championship 2012, Saturday 11.2.12, Kinglake Promenade, Wallasey (30 rods).


A typically bleak and cold February day at the Kinglake Road section of promenade was the venue for this series curtain raiser, fished between two stone groynes jutting out into the Mersey.
2011 joint champions, Joe Perry and Bill Lindfield found themselves on adjacent pegs at the downriver end of the match length, Zone A. Bill soon built a lead of several small codling to frozen crab and was never caught despite a strong challenge from his wife Heather a few pegs away. Carl Edwards won Zone B for the runner-up placing; the differing numbers of fish available in the two zones are reflected in the results.
John Baguley’s only fish was a plaice of 30 cms which he caught on his last cast from the fast ebbing tide! This fish took the flatfish pool and gained him valuable championship points.
