Multiplier frustrations
Been using multis for around a year now, but i still dont trust them; casting 70 yards isnt an issue, but as soon as i try to put any power into my casts i know that there is a crack off around the corner
, this leaves me p***** off and most importantly doesnt encourage me to put any power into my casts
. Now i have read every post on here and on WSF about multis, and make sure that the line is on tight and that it is on very neatly, yet i still get crack offs. Any ideas chaps?

next time you fishing the blas match let dave kam have a look at your set up and he will give you a few pointers he will help you if asked he has one of the best casting styles i have ever seen he makes it look so easy even though he as got a serious back problem he still gets the bait out there when its needed .
do you need a scaffold i can supply and erect tube and fitting/mobile fixed pasma scaffolds
Re: Multiplier frustrations
Have you got your brakes on at all
...no harm in them being on a touch to stop the spool overtaking itself
Keep everything nice and smooth, you can give it some welly as long as you don't snatch at it, try pushing with your top and hand and pulling with your bottom hand to load the rod

Here's what might sound like a daft question, but can you feel the line 'birdie-ing' before or after the crack-off ?
I know in the past that I have had both types of 'crack-off'.
1. Line birdies before , snags the line being cast out, crack-off -- increase brakes or tighten nuts as the spool is over spinning the line leaving it.
2. Line birdies after the crack-off, results in birdie of line -- bad line or damaged line caused the crackoff, nothing to do with multi at all.
I don't get crack-offs from 1. anymore as I set my brakes to match my casting -- i.e. very poor
I still get 2. crackoffs , but I try to feel my line and leader for any potential problems and can change or predict when they might happen.

Been through it with you at the last match tom. Tell you what, you fish with my rod and reel and i will set yours up and see how we do. You have the same casting style as me, so my gear should not be a problem to you. If you remember what i said about where to look in the sky, you should get some good casts.
If you are a right handed caster. The old saying goes....low and left...high and right. Spool release is vital as to the direction the lead travels. I know where you are coming from, when you are new, you think about the cast and get it wrong...given time and experience it becomes second nature and you can just belt it out.
If you are getting overruns its either...the reel is set up wrong or you are snatching/jerking your cast. Stick with me at the next match and i will get at lest an extra 20 yards on your casting
