PM's match results, round 10 2010

Post by heather »

Match Report- Round 10 of N.W.A.S.A.C. Personal Members Championship, Sat 6.11.10, Kinglake Promenade, Wallasey, Mersey Estuary (20 rods).

A virtually windless night presented a perfect stage for the final act in this year’s championship- until the rain arrived. The lack of wind meant that this particular section of the estuary stayed thoroughly wet until the whistle at midnight. The high tide promenade venue fished well with whiting, small codling, dabs, flounders and one dogfish recorded.
In a bizarre turn of events, last month’s winner of the Golden Peg, Bill Lindfield, drew the favoured peg again! There was to be no repeat of his triumph, however, although he nearly pulled it off and finishes runner up in the final tally.
Association stalwart, Jimmy Kelly was on top form and won the match with an impressive catch of 26 fish from Zone A. (Bill had the same number of fish but with less length.) Birkenhead ace Ian Brookes headed the less productive Zone B to take second.
Series leader, John Waugh, held firm, his seventh place on the night was sufficient to secure the 2010 championship and another trophy to add to an impressive collection for the Mersey Master.

Results (Scored continental style from 2 zones):

1. James C. Kelly (Thingwall, photo), 663 cms, 23 whiting, 3 codling.
2. Ian Brookes (Birkenhead), 592 cms, 20 whiting, 4 codling, 1 dab.
3. Bill Lindfield (Greasby), 613 cms, 16 whiting, 8 codling, 1 dab, 1 flounder .
4. Dave Campbell (Higher Bebington), 390 cms, 13 whiting, 1 dabs, 2 codling.
5. Carl Edwards (Bootle), 504 cms, 16 whiting, 1 codling, 4 dabs.
6. Richard Burrow (Ashton-under-Lyne), 381 cms, 13 whiting, 1 dab, 2 codling.

John waugh, one of the best anglers i've met. Has excellent skills, the best bait, and EXPERIENCE.... he knows what to do and when to do it. His tackle would suprise some of the tackle tarts though!
