Match Report- Round 1 of 2010 N.W.A.S.A.C. Personal Members Championship, Sat 27.2.10, Colwyn Bay Promenade, North Wales (36 rods).


With whiting and dogfish seemingly absent on this normally prolific venue, the only productive tactic was to scratch around the groynes and rocks for rockling and flounders. An easterly wind and sea temperature as low as 7 degrees Celsius did not exactly help sport either.
Match organiser, Richard Burrow managed three rockling in three casts to fresh black lug in Zone A to win the match and lead the championship at this early stage; Birkenhead’s Ian Brookes was second with a rockling and the only whiting of the match.
Showing that there were one or two better fish around on a cold night, Wallasey’s Steve Crowder hooked a big flounder only to see it lost at the wall; a single rockling for 11th place was his only consolation.
