I'd had a good think about this venue over the last couple of days and decided to go for the Barbel, as there is a good head of them in this water. My main bait would be Meat, feeding with caster and pellet. Corn would be my standby bait, No maggot today. Dave had drawn peg 9 next to me. Though his approach would be different, concentrating on carp...

In towards the fishing stage and close in to the bank on my left...
I never bothered to set up for the far bank, it was in easy reach. I wanted the barbel...
When the match started, silly me loaded the hook with caster and waisted 15 minutes on nothing. A quick change to meat brought me a result, Roach
This was the only one i caught all day. It took me a while to get into my stride. The carp came and then the barbel, fishing just off my keepnet by the weeds...
When this swim seemed exhausted i switched to the inside bank, which also brought carp and barbel...
In the end i moved between to two swims, everytime i hooked a fish. The match ended too soon for me, as i was enjoying the day. The weather was ok and we had no rain
My plan had paid off and ended the day with mainly barbel.Colin came round with the scales, dave was first. He had seventeen pounds ten ounces. Though i was convinced he had done much better...
Then my fish were weighed at twenty seven pounds nine ounces
Enough for a section win and 2nd place over all. I didn't think i had that much, though kammy said all along i had
