Am i right in thinking that a pulley rig with a single 4/0 widegape hook and a 60lb snood is suitable for smooth hounds???

IMHO the bait is the most important aspect of targetting a certain species....you can have the bestest ever fancy dangling rig,but if there`s the wrong swag on the hook,you aint at the races

If you wanna catch smooth hound,then either collect or buy fresh crab.....the buzz you get from hooking one of those bad boys,is something else ( i can still hear Davinski from Sunday

)

On Sunday i alternated between a 2 hook clipped down type rig and a 2 hook flapper....caught 1 hound on each....i`ll be doing likewise on Weds

Distance is`nt critical at the Rock Channel

1 or 2 full crabs per hook,depending on size.....get that scent trail going

The peelers are not so massive so I use one on each hook.

il go with that kev get the bait right an your half way there any rig that will put the bait on the deck an is easy to cast will do the job.

That ray rig that kev posted up a while back takes some beating if you happy with 1 hook.

I used an up and over pennal 3/0 and 2/0 with softies, not peelers, keeping all legs intact. 6.4kg. Snoods 4 ft long if that helps.
