Pike on Lancaster Canal

OK, it involved no drowned maggots, but me and Bren went to The Lancaster Canal, this lunchtime, we went down to stretch at the back of Springfields Nuclear Plant, there is a smaller basin and the large Salwick basin on this stretch.

Bren borrowed one of my rods and my spinning gear and we trapsed down the muddy towpath for a couple of hours, before going to watch Liverpool/Everton in a pub.

The smaller basin gave this little Jack pike to Bren on a Mepps Number 4 spoon with plastic minnow attached.



Nothing for me today!

Nice day and relaxing, few others spinning and dead baiting in Salwick Basin, they all had nothing.

Made a change from Sea Fishing.

well in sven on mepps spoon not seen them but have a mepp's spinner and kill's for perch unlucky john there is alway's another day

Thats excellent, looks like a nice fish. I'd have been pleased with that. I'm on Hatchmere later this year after a 20lb Pike. I have occasionally seen them shoot out and take silver fish on the top. I know they are there.

I have never caught a BIG PIKE yet!

I'm gonna get my leg pulled...but whats a Jack Pike - compared to a PIke. Is it a younger fish? or a different breed?
