This is one of several productive marks,overlooking nearby Puffin Island,and a variety of sport is on offer to shore anglers.The venue can produce decent whiting,which are larger than you will find on most of the well known shore marks around the island.Other species include rockling,flounder,pollack,dogs,pouting and small ling.As spring and summer approach,pollack will fall to redgills from the rocks and small bass have been recorded as late as December.The mark is also recommended for mackeral fishing in summer and is popular for early morning bass anglers.
Tackle/bait...Mackeral and lug,fished on 2 hook rigs,are among the best baits for whiting.Longer casts will reduce tackle losses,as there are ledges and rough ground close in.Further out,the bottom is cleaner,but a quick retrieve is advised to avoid snags.Floatfishing can be successful for pollack/wrasse,but may alsp pick up bass.
How To Get There...From Beaumaris,follow the B5109 Llangoed Rd.Turn off for Penmon and follow the road through the Priory and toll gate.Park by the lighthouse and walk left.
