Anglesey....Cymyran Bay

This is a venue that offers different ways to fish,and a variety of quarry to target depending on the size of tide and wind speed/direction. The first area you come to is a relatively narrow/deep channel where you can target bass,either spinning or plugging...live prawns/shrimps run through on a bubble float e.t.c works well ...small eyed rays (the target for many from mid Sept - November) can also be taken,particulary near the bend on neap to mid range tides...spring tides are very hard to fish due to the tidal run and kelpy weed .
Moving further to the left of the channel gives you the main beach,which is best on spring tides...being fairly flat/shallow means you will need chest waders to wade out to cast,and you will be on the move quite often,either following the ebb tide out from 2 hours before low and retreating from the flooding tide for 90 mins or so,after which time the water comes in too quick,so we usually up sticks and move to the top of the beach where the rising ground will halt the flow.
On the right side of the main beach gives you the option of casting towards large rocky outcrops which hold bass (spear fisherman do well there)
I usually start just on the right side of the small set of rocks...
Looking back at the top of the beach,you will see an old sewer outlet,and i usually fish opposite that and have had some good sessions in favourable conditions..
It really is a venue where anything can turn up....i`ve had turbot(pb) hounds,coalies,whiting,bass(pb) small eyed rays(pb).sea trout(pb) dogs !! thornbacks, bull huss and flounder. Combinations of bluey,mack,sand eel and squid work very well on up n over pennel rigs...an onshore breeze putting a slight chop on the water seems to be ideal...the water is gin clear,so fishing in daylight is far less productive .
Getting there...Follow A55 to junction 3 and take the first exit off the roundabout...after 200yds turn right on to Cymyran Rd and follow that until you come to a dead end by RAF Valley...as you can no longer drive down the track to the "parking bay",it`s a 10 min walk down the track...go round the new gate and follow the track over to the left...
When you reach the big sandy bay,walk across towards the white house and go over the dune...
The big sandy bay actually floods on spring tides,though it`s only a couple of foot deep so you have no probs getting back off.
