Ainsdale low This Morning

Post by stephen atkinson »

Thought id try again after giving me pump an overhaul, and to give me new headlamp a good go in the dark, was not disapointed with the headlamp, superbly bright, quality.

And the worms where casting everywhere, had a good haul this morning.

Am back out again in the morning and taking a bucket of salt, the razors where spitting at me everywhere i walked, didn't have salt, so the aim is to grab a haul of razor, to vac pack down and have a pump while im there, getting there for 5.15, if anyone fancys it

I’m tempted, but;

1. It’s going to be bloody freezing.

2. I fully intend to still be snoring at 0515.

Great looking haul though. I’ll be heading down for the evening tide hoping to get a few razors too. Never had any before so not holding out too much hope.

When I collected them at Leasowe for the tackle shops and Chinese restaurants,I would only go out in the dark ( seagulls hammer them in daylight ) and when it was a high pressure system.There was no need for salt as they used to rise up out of the sand and you could just gently pick them out. On a good night I could collect 500 to 600.A good trolley was vital. :thumbsup:

Nice to meet up with you again Stan, managed 7 wraps not that many compared to yesterday, as i was trying for the razors with only 4 spitting at me, thats all i got, amazing how they litterally just push themselves out and lay there, and Pip one of the best pumpers ive ever seen, 1 every go. :D

its all down to knowledge and experience / every beach is different plus the pressure will affect the worm beds big time
all stuff we have to learn / just like the same old dissection of silicone or dog bung or other type of washer you use
and just pump how it suits you best ? eventually with the constant practice it will pay off

what ever you use or how you do it don't get disheartened a bad pumping day is much better than a hard session trying to dig for them

cheers Brian/whistleingsands

Is right Brian.The air pressure is dropping big time over the next few days.The worms can sense this and go deeper to avoid being washed out of their burrows if a storm hits.I think the fishing could be hit over the week end as well as fish detect the pressure change with their lateral line.

Your success can vary on the same session as you encounter different types of ground...when i walk out and start pumping,if i find they are coming out easily,i work the ground to the left and right,rather than walking further forward,until i`ve exhausted that area. :idea:
winter fishing sucks
