If like me you have an addiction to buying new rods n reels you may be interested in this...the new kid on the block in continental rods...the new Akios AirSpeed Surf 435.



I haven't yet got my hands on one to give it a waggle but I'll be getting one in next week and adding it to my arsenal! I'll be able to give my personal opinion on it thereafter.

On paper it appears to be a bit special. At 4.35m / 14.1/2ft it certainly offers something different to most other conti's that tend to be in either 14ft or 15ft lengths.

It's been designed and developed in collaboration with Alan Price, two times world champion angler, and a number of other top match anglers in Ireland and further afield have also added to the development process. There's certainly a good mix of experience built into this rod.

Action wise, whilst it's slim at just 22.5mm at the butt, and very light, I believe it's very powerful in the lower section with a sensitive spliced in carbon tip offering good bite detection.



Fuji Chrome alconite KWAG guides, Fuji DPS reel seat, stainless steel ring reinforced spigots and removable counter balance weights in the butt makes this is a quality built piece of kit.

Be interesting to see the reviews from other anglers in a month or two to see how it compares with the Cobra and some of the other big guns.

Not sure if anyone is aware but Alan Price has a tackle and bait shop in Rhuddlan. Has only been open a few months but has excellent bait and great quality gear. Bought my Vega rods there. Very helpful and deserve success.
