After failing at tha Alt last Thursday, even though I had a 30.8 tide.
I have marked Monday 28th March as a day over at Flint Cob. The book has high tide at 12.47hrs.
What is the best start time and recommended baits.

I,ve only fished it a few times,but usually I fish it a couple of hours either
side of high water.On a big tide the water can come over the bank so watch your gear. A simple 1 up 1 down rig with cocktails of rag,mack,squid
and lug normally work.Hopefully the flounders will be starting to arrive in greater numbers,that is if they have'nt been pillaged by the small inshore
trawlers that work the channel.MIck Mac or DaveW may have a bit more info to add.

The early part of the year (which includes Mon 28th but maybe not Apr 3rd ) rag tipped with mackerel is the best bait, but once the crabs start to peel then, as LJ says, peeler is a must. Can be fished 2.5-3 hours either side of high (even if it only looks like a puddle). Best catches usually during the flood, bites tail off over slack water and pick up again on the ebb. 2 or 3 hook flappers with plenty of beads work well

Should only be fished on a tide 9m Liverpool or less (thats 29.5' in old money ), otherwise the water breaks over the top of the bank yer standing on. It won't wash you away or aught like that, just might get a tad sticky/messy. A big tide also means the water will be going through at a fair ould pace and carry more sh*te than normal to catch on yer line. 5 or 6oz grippers would be needed and not a place for the flatty rods. You can get away with lighter gear on the smaller tides.

From what every one is saying I would be better off fishing a couple of days later when the tides are only 27.9
