The side plate has come away from the plastic reel handle bit

The metal bar bit has snaped off aswell.
Anyone got any idea where I can get parts from???

Probably all that load you have been putting on your reel with them big fish
Seriously Though...It could be a floor in the spindle, which has given way under time or You have put too much lateral pessure on the handle when winding in. This happens when you have a heavy weight e.g. big fish or weed and you force the handle round instead of pumping the rod up and winding down.
I would send it back to Daiwa, you never know, they might just replaice the reel.
You can buy a pinion support pin/sleeve off ebay. That strenghthens this part of the reel, they simply slot over the main drive pinion. For a fiver you can't go wrong.
I'd better go and check my 7HT's now....Hope this helps

It had a pin/sleeve on it not sure if that made it snap,,,as the handle wobbles when reeling a big fish in it makes the pin wobble as well without the sleeve it might not wobble as much. Just don't know

Hmmm..If the handle wobbled, then the pinion was working loose from the back plate and the inevitable happened. This is caused by too much pressure on the handle winding in big weights. pumping the rod drasticly reduces this problem. You need to find someone who does reel repairs/service for a new back plate or contact Daiwa UK, who should have the part you need.

Brian,
Similar thing happened to mine recently. Probably best reserved for light use over clean sandy beaches when there is no weed about and only using plain leads targeting mini species. Makes you wonder why it comes with a power handle.
Had a go with Richies Akios Sports Shuttle this morning. I've now got two on order, enough said.

Box it up and send it back to Daiwa in Scotland.

Don't pay more than £150 for new and £100 for ex-dem. Deals to be had if you shop around.

Never did have the pleasure Chris. I still wonder though... if a £150 worth of latest generation kit can wipe the floor so easily with a 7ht mag then what kind of performance advantage does the ST give for £300? Well, maybe I just make do with two Sports Shuttles for the same money and be happy with that
