Tournament, match etc

Do these phrases mean alot?
Trying to look for a second rod to compliment my Daiwa HPB-12F.
I would like something with a similar spec ideally, 4-6oz. Something thats not nodding in the swell, but something good enough so show the bites, and a reducer is a big plus.
Casting beyond the horizon isn't hugely important as its not somthing I can do, and something durable thats going to last if its treated well.
Im guessing match rods mean more tippy for showing bites? Tournament more for casting? Or is it just a name/ catergory to sell more rods?
With the range of rods out there now its all hugely confusing.
Oh and if its important, the rod will most likely be used with an Abu 6500c from the late 80s.

the best thing to do do would be to get to macmans have a look and a feel of the rods , gives you an idea of what you like the feel of or if ya fish with any one off here most will let ya have a few casts with there gear and you can see what gear others use to fish locally

Tournament more for casting they are stiff action rods

it all depends on how much you want to spend mr willson and were your most likely to use it ie rocks/sandy/rough ground .

alot of the match anglers now are using the 14 ft to 16ft three piece rods for there fishing.

the tourament casters are sticking to the zipplex,s

most of the casual fishermen are using fladens for the cheapness

the best way you can see which one you want is to try a few out come down to a fish and meet all of the lads will let you play with there rods from zippys to fladens

but do check up on some of the rods that we all have tried and tested and own in detail in the rod room

But withh a top section as sensitive as that is it more likely to be nodding in a swell? Or is that more to do with the mid section of the rod?
Money I'm guessing upto £300ish, I don't mind spending the money "if" its worth spending the extra for, and I end up only spending once.
As for the kind of fishing, mosty beach work with the occassional rock mark.
Will definately go for a wander to Macmans next week when Im off. Been reading all of the rod reviews I can find some have been very useful especially as there are alot of new makes since the last time i was shopping for a rod.

Theres a couple of matches on ebay atm. Seeing what Price they go for.
Reading up about them they sound ideal spec wise. But after some research Im slightly confused as to which would be a better rod for me out of the match and super match?? Anywhere localish sell century rods?

Be wary of ebay.You can buy transfers that can turn a blank into something its not.
