Take out bearings.Clean in petrol or lighter fluid. Dry on tissue.Add 1 drop of car engine oil to each bearing. Leave to drain on tissue.Sorted.

I think you can also add extra magnets on top of the existing ones.
(If they're the same as the Abu ones get them from Pete Coogan.)

Or you could just take two magnets out then put each one on the back of the other two which would make the magnets closer to the spool and therefore slow it down more. Look at Part No. 302.

Even with mags on full it doesnt slow as obviously as a mag elite. Gentle chucks and you got to watch that spool like a hawk or it will run over.

I use 20lb line on mine and fill to 1/8" of the lip. Some 3in1 on the bearings and (touch wood) it's not birdied for a few outings. I also take all side play out so it's tighter than I would do on a 6500 (end float)

mr duffy you are spot on there laa .in summer it does run faster with the warm weather heating the oil up in winter though you will find the reel can freeze up done it to me a few times but nothing to much to worry about

I use "Yellow" Rocket fuel in my supermag extra and can launch it a fair distance with no problems.

If it's the one with the knobbly mag then I agree it's a right lively little bugger. To avoid fluff's you've really got to give it some stick I find. Use it for all my distance work, absolutely love the thing. Matched with a powerful rod and set up properly your in casting heaven. Keep mags near full on at start of cast then ease off once your lead is well away, brilliant

Give it too much respect though, especially where there's a light / springy rod involved and it can spit its dummy out all over you. Simon's advice is spot on but considering what it can do when you really get to know it then crying shame to tame it down IMHO.
