Had a mate take a few photo's whilst practising a bit of casting and this picture below appeared.
Now I know these rods are fairly soft from what i've read (after buying rod ) but this looks like its about to give up !!!!

Looks like a stick of spaghetti

A good rod is judged by it's recovery rate after loading. That one looks as if it's all over the place

dont take offence what i pointing out.


important casting near a play area is not suitable

1/ your legs are set to far apart
2/ your arms are to far apart
3/the position of the rod to your chest is to far out and high
4/position of the lead for off the ground cast is way out
5/the swinging arc of the rod/lead is way out
6/ your punch at the end of your cast is way off target
7/your hip twist basicly does not twist (you must feel a pull in your back this is not good)
8/ after the cast your feet stay in the position you started with
9/ that aint a rod it is a straw out of mcdonalds
10/like the colour of the reel though. even though its badly loaded
11/you need to watch the dave docra dvd

saying all that your alot better than milly

watch for casting/fishing sessions come along and you can learn to be worst than milly
i got a copy of the dvd if you want to watch it

That would explain why the boys on the beech run for cover when I wind up my cast

If anyone knows of any casting events coming up can you let me know.

Sven no offence taken fella I'm a long long way from perfect but am willing to take the time to learn ( if only for the safety of my fellow fishermen )

I think the best thing you can do is video yourself casting. That way you get a clear picture of what you are doing. I tried itand it really helps.

A drilled poolball !!!!!!,,,,i take it you weighed it to check how much b.s. shockleader to use,,,,the main thing you need to remember out of the list sven mentioned,,,,,,,,is keeping away from childs play areas while your throwin about a,,, "drilled poolball",,,no excuses mate if that poolball had hit anyone it would have done more damage than softer lead,,,,,no wonder the rod butt is bendin,,,

And you thought you were just posting an interesting picture.Unfortuanatly I am not an expert,so I can't criticize your style,and I give you credit for not casting when the park is full of brats,and I could'nt give a toss if you use a drilled cannonball,I somehow don't see you tying on a new 15lb leader every chuck.Somebody on here has the caption,"when I want your opinion,I'll ask for it",a worthwhile adage. Guttersnark,,try puttin your weight in a tennis ball,,,,will be a lot safer,,,carry on with your castin practise,,,,you will get there in the end,,just takes patience,,

Got to agree with barny try keep safty of the kids in mind, my 3and 6 year love the swings!

A few years ago a youngster was killed by a lead cracking off on the prom the user wasn't using a shock leader so safety first.
But keep at it
