got to lingmere about 8 am this morning and after reports of good bags last week decided on the match lake ( every one else was in the more sheltered pleasure lake)
the pegs to the right of the gate were recomended but this meant we were facing the wind, and it was a bitterly cold south easterly
tactics were small blockend feeders cast as tight to the island as you can dare, this puts it on a shallow ledge about 1 foot deep that the fish cruise along double red maggot was the bait and spraying maggots over the top
after half an hour of this with nothing to show and a chat with steve the bailiff (told us it was very hard the last week)we headed to the other side into pegs 20 and 21 were the wind was behind our backs and with the high bank at least we were more sheltered from the weather
first cast with the same tactics and the tip slammed round with a hard fighting chub of about a pound, fish were sparodic for me whilst mick was blanking about 6' away from me using the same bait/tactics
macman came along for a chat,just as i was into a lovely conditioned linear carp, and after he buggered off complaining of the man flu i continued to catch small chub, by this time mick had managed to save his blushes with a chub
we were both starting to feel the effects of the cold by this time despite coats, fleeces and thermal hats/boots so we decided to call it a day
lingmere is a great little fishery and one il defo be back to....when the weather warms up
