The final round of the summer league saw 18 anglers turn up for our visit to perch rock.
We were greeted with dull conditions with intermittent rain, after everyone was booked in we made our way to the back of the fort and waited for the tide to drop by 12 30 there was enough beach showing so off we went to our chosen spots 1.15 soon came and All in was called and it didn't take long before the first fish started hitting the beach but mainly small dabs.
This continued for the first hour then a few doggies started to show. The weather was like the fishing with frequent showers and the wind picked up then dropped off again but the dabs and dogs continued to show then Daniel had a cracking bite which saw the first hound landed a small one of 55 cm .
The end of the match was getting closer then Dave lunt found a small Huss of 63cm everyone else was still catching the odd dab or doggie and at least the weather was improving but soon enough it was 5:15 and all in was called so back to the carpark once All cards were collected we all made are way to the lighthouse pub for the results and end of the league presentation .
So while waiting for our food All the totals were added up and with things tight at the top of the table it was going to be close . So totals done for the match and the overall totals worked out it was time to eat.
So with everyone fed and watered it was time for the results the match was won by Dave Lunt with 13 fish for 395 cm,
2nd was Brian Roper with 16 fish for 390cm. 3rd was John Waugh with 15 fish for 354cm.
Biggest fish went to Dave Lunt with a Huss of 63cm and he also won biggest flat and round combined with his Huss and a dab of 27cm for a total of 90cm .
Smallest fish was shared between Dale Edwards, Gary Swift and John Waugh who all had a fish of 10cm.
With the match results done over to the final league positions.
1st place with 66 points went to ever constant John Waugh.
2nd went to Rob Turner with a total of 58 points and 3rd went to Gary Swift with 51 points
Biggest smoothie went to Dave Radcliffe with a Hound of 109 cm from round 3.
Biggest bass went to Rob Turner with a Bass of 57 cm from round 6.
Biggest dab went to John Waugh with a dab of 30cm in round 9 .
Most species caught over 9 rounds went to Gary Swift with 11 species .
Most blank's over the 9 rounds went to mark Davies with a total of 4 matches resulting in a blank card.
Thanks to everyone who fished the summer league we had some Great days with plenty of banter and some nice fish were caught and a few new faces joining us.
Looking forward to the winter league which should get underway towards the end of October hopefully the Cod will show up this year.
