They were referring to Llandudno Pier and i beg to differ !
The original plan was to fish high at Penmaenmawr hopefully for a billy bass. When I got there I met up with Tango Bait Man for some fresh foot long black lug. Top bloke, although he was a bit annoyed as since it was put on a thread here about him selling lug, he has had people knocking on his camper van at 2 & 3 in the morning wanting bait !!
The sea was completely flat calm and not worth fishing, there were a few small shoals of mackerel and I did try the feathers but I think they were more interested in dodging the pair of porpoise swimming 100 yards off shore.
I decided to head to the pier to fish a few hours before low water at the conwy estuary.
I was hopeful after last weekend's haul and was into a doggie within the hour. Then the smoothounds started biting again (man they love the peeler crab !)
The first one, A starry 5lb 6oz

The next a common 5lb 4oz

Another starry just under 4lb

It died off for an hour or two then I had a little bite ! The fish swam right towards me then tried to pull me and the rod into the water..... I had to release the drag and give it 50 yards or so and it was an almighty battle to get the beggar landed (especially as I had left the drop net at home

I then had another small one of around 3 1/2 lb

Then another doggie, (the photo is purely for the species hunt !)

I had one more common weighing 4 1/2lb but by that time my phone had died !!
There were also 2 smaller hounds which didn't make it up the pier whilst trying to handline them in (that'll teach me to remember the net next time !).
I must admit, it was quiet for the other fishermen around, even the doggies weren't biting. But there are fish out there
