century rod

hello
i am new to wirral sea fishing site i am on the look out for a new century rod for the mersey plus fishing around the north wales marks i am a overhead castercasting 100 yards wanting to learn of the ground casting fix spool reel as not to sure with the multiplyer as for the dreaded birds nest. i have seen a Century Tip Tornado Match Fixed Spool on line at gerrys fishing are they ok for the mersey and north wales just got back in to sea fishing as i,ve got in to the carp for the last 5 years any advice would be greatfull thanks

Lot of cash to spend on a rod. Why got heart set on that one rather than a sensible middle of the range rod? Not a bit of blokey tackle tartiness creeping in?

You can pick up some good rods in the 120-170 bracket which will not dissappoint - for example I think the anyfish anywhere bait and six can be picked up pretty cheaply at the moment as a new model has just been released.


To answer your question though - it will definately do the job - nice rod

TT Match... great all rounder for the Mersey, easy to cast with and after several years of constant use you'll realise what good value it was when you bought it

I agree Joe.. I use the TT sport as my Mersey/ long range rod, but it takes a fair bit of "winding up" to get some real distance. The "Match" is probably a more sensible upgrade.

The new AFAW 6+B MK2 rods look like there going to be very popular. Gerry's have them now. They are a much lighter rod with a softer tip than the MK1 which was heavy and a real poker. Best new rods on the market for under £200 in my opinion..

Gerrys have a "try before yoiu buy" scheme going on century rods at the moment - give them a bell

Thanks for the info I went for the tt match from Gerrys I wanted the fixspool type only had the multi gerry said you can use a fixspool with a multi rod I think I will. Convert over after Xmas . Tryed it out up the fields with a o t g cast 4 oz lead cleared a standard size footy pitch plus extra 15 yards well made up with the rod going to go to brom wall Friday try for a coddo .
