father xmas has asked me what i want for xmas and he said i can have about £50
but theres not just a few rods out there, theres hundreds
so what do you look for in a rod
now i always thought that the more peices the more weaker the rod the one iam using now is 2 peice
and do you look for a stiffer model
and what about size, i meen does it really matter, well no, aslong as you get satisfaction from it then who cares,
but why go up to 16ft surely if you cast the same weight your gonna get nearly the same with 13ft
what do you reckon i ask for then?

Re: what to look for in new rod
Where are you gunna be using it in the main
Some of the marks on the Mersey require 7oz leads plus a good size bait so you will need something that will cast 8oz. IMHO the longer rods are only gunna benefit those who have a good casting technique....a lot of marks don`t require distance casting or a tuned technique so they would be wasted on them. A longer rod does`nt mean you`re gunna cast further.....try and get out on one of the fishing sessions and try some of our rods, you can then look for a second hand one
