Match Report- Round 2 of N.W.A.S.A.C. Summer League, Sun 16.5.10, Caldy, Dee Estuary, Wirral (38 rods).


Despite the ideal conditions with an onshore breeze creating a surf and a bigger tide, the fishing was only marginally better than the Personal Members’ match two weeks before. Once more, plaice failed to feature in catches with only flounders and eels on offer.
As is often the case at Caldy, the early stages were the most productive and Manchester’s Richard Burrow capitalised on this with five flounders on three casts to cocktails of crab, mackerel and ragworm.
Of the sizeable contingent of visiting anglers, Ian Bellfield and Andy Young both scored zone wins but a local angler, John Baguley won the longest fish pool with a fine flounder of 42 cms.

3. Bill Lindfield (Greasby), 157 cms, 3 flounders, 1 eel.

Zone B: Ian Bellfield (Gateshead), 100 cms, 2 eels.
Zone C: Wayne McGilloway (Greenfield), 138 cms, 4 flounders.
Zone D: Andy Young (Lancaster), 139 cms, 4 flounders.


Longest Fish: John Baguley (New Brighton), flounder, 42 cms.

Its strange why the plaice seem to show further up the estuary on the Caldy marks.
