How to tie the Bimini Twist knot

i myself use it and it is that strong that it will pull hooks straight and not break the line the snool are 20 lbs and the main line is 15lbs it the only leader knot that i use

I was surprised to read that the bimini is smaller than the albright.I always use the albright because it is so small.I also use 23lb Teklon Gold,same diameter as 15lb,and,tied to my 80lb braid leader,you would hardly know it was there.With this set up,I find that when I am caught up,I am getting my stuff back,sometimes less a hook off my 25lb amnesia snood,AND,I have had no problems at all,in the last 6 months,using a braid leader,no crackoffs,and I still have all my fingers.I will be at the next fish and meet,so if you're interested,you can have a look.

Mr Flanagan showed us how to tie it at one of our matches at caldy last year, it looked very impressive and he made it look so simple

and then i blinked and forgot the lot

Will stick to my bog standard simple one i think

It's just the twisty bit at the start where you wrap the line over itself that's tricky the rest is simples!

You will still snap at the knot if you have to pull for a break.It looks good but not worth the effort IMHO.

I agree Steve. The grinner has done ok for me for a few years now.

steve there are no knots in it

it is a one hundred % knot

this is the best knot l have ever used

you can pull as hard as you like on it and it doesn't break

once you have tied a couple it is as easy as any other knot

in my humble opinion

Try it mate. Honestly, it usually breaks along the line. Like Graham said greater than 100% breaking strain of the single line. I guess it's because the line is doubled and twisted so that when it's strained it twists rather than as most knots do, strain at a bend.

Example: At each end 12lb Okuma Distance (Bimini Twist) to 50lb leader (Grinner Knot) to end loop with figure eight knot.

I think the main use for this type of knot is to allow the use of lower breaking strain line (smaller diameter) when fishing in strong currents to decrease the drag on the line.

Maybe I'm just talking sheite and have mice with a taste for Copolymer.
