Snoods with silicone and bait clip for lug

Been thinking of the way lugs bunch up once on the snoods......
will attaching a small bait clip up the snood to in effect hook the worm up the snood giving a more natural appearance or adding a 7 inch silicone sleeve to the snood and thread the worm over it and whip the worm just above the silicone may also help.

You do use a bait needle don't you? With bait needle and fresh lug they dont bunch up and give perfect presentation (at least until the crabs and stuff have had 10 minutes with it). Dont forget to tip off with a thumbnail sized square of squid to stop the worm pushing over the hook.

Don't bother using needle with frozen though - then its back to advice above. Or just accept it, though still tip with squid so it doesnt obscure the hook point.

some times when using frozen lug for fish like dabs an whiting its not always practical to use a pennel,i normaly thread a bit of lug up snood to were you want it then insert a bait needle threw the bait then whip up the worm with a bit of elastic,the needle keeps the bait straght an neat. when it looks tidy just pull the needle out leaving a neat compact bait that will not bunch up.

Another option maybe?

A stop knot from 30lb+ line with the top end tag end cut at an angle with a knife so you can slide the worm over and them pierce it on the stiff tag end.

Won't catch a fish on a stop knot though, so I guess pennel would be preferred.

Leave a nice long tag on the hook knot, helps stop the worm sliding back down. Simliar idea to Spuds stop knot.

Another alternative.

Let the worm watch an episode of Countdown, after which the worm will be good and firm for the rest of the day, resisting any limpness on the hook.

(Note: May not work with worms over a certain age!)

I suppose a mini style pennel snood might work as well using an 8-12s hook lashed on the line
