Casts 4-8 oz, but I've only used it with 5s and 6s.
It's a fairly stiff rod so bite detection is medium with smaller fish being missed.
I got this rod as an all rounder when I decided to start using a multiplier. I've fished from the beach and off the rocks with this rod and it works well. I don't yet have the technique to full load this rod when casting so don't get the distance it's capable of.
I use it as an all rounder.

I wouldn't recommend this rod to someone as a first rod to use with a multi, it's too hard to load.

I've tried this rod and found it extremely user freindly with excellent bite detection.
I did infact reccomend this rod to a freind who is a relavtive beginner to go with a penn mag, he gets along with it just fine.
Just wondering if your talkin about the xp or the rx
