Fort

Postby Big Hitter » Sat Jun 23, 2018 2:12 pm

So me and Housey decided to give the Rock Channel a miss and hit the fort instead.
Think we made the right choice.
Both fished squid and crab baits at distance and ended up with 4 Rays upto 5lb and 2 Hounds with the biggest being around 7lb.

Cracking session guys, nice tidy set up with your tray tripod along side your stand - being organised in your set up always help rather turning your box upside down to find a pair of scissors!

Cheers guys. Enjoyed it. Really getting into fishing fixed spools down the rod now. Been hitting some big distances with em.
Paul Argent, the tray thing came about from our international matches when you had to be organised or your stuffed. Works really well unless it’s windy.

It’s only 14ft 2 that rod Tom. It’s a mkll Tip Tornado Sport with Titanium k guides. It looks long because I fish reel down. 8)

I do, but starting to get into the fixed spools down the rod now mate.
I find it effortless to cast em and I feel I have more control when playing bigger fish.
Only problem I’ve found with em is when it’s windy, especially a strong side wind. Because there’s no resistance to the line/braid flying off the spool you get a bigger than normal line loop. It’s ok if you’ve got plenty of room but if someone casts into your loop it’s a pain.
I can also fish lower diameter lines/braids therefore increasing distance and less tide pull allowing me to hold out at greater distances than I can with 0.35 mono. 8)
