Perch Rock 11th June

Postby Patriot » Mon Jun 11, 2018 5:29 pm

First session in a couple of months. Been struggling with a torn tendon on my foot, so been missing the matches etc

Anyway. A week off work

Headed to Perch rock, so thought i would have a look on Harrison Drive on the way, to fish over high water

Living 20-odd miles inland, no breeze, nice and sunny

New Brighton - not so. Strong breeze off the sea so the wall on the drive was welcome

Seceond cast - and a bar of silver. My first, i may add. Super bite and gave a cracking fight. I reckon just about a pound or so, but great on light gear

Quick bite to eat, popped into Mr Bonners for some squid, and off to Perch Rock

About 10 or so on the beach already. Did'nt appear to be much activity. One guy had a couple of very small dab and a couple of small whiting, but that was over about 4 hours

Other than that, nothing. Not a single fish that i could see

Weed was a real pain. Tons of the stuff strewn across the beach

And about 70 yards out, loads of white foam of some sort, no idea what that was

Still, great to be out again,

The foot did'nt play up on the relatively short walk back, so might try Talacre later in the week depending if i can my my hands on some crab
Only here for the cod!
