Caldy Friday night/Monday morning

Postby Ste Robbo » Mon May 28, 2018 12:40 pm

Spent a few hours down Caldy Friday night with my dad and the fishing was none stop from the get go..
as usual i like to take a walk and meet the tide at this place as I always seem to pick up flounders on the first couple of casts as the tide comes rushing in..
Double header straight away for my dad
Soon we was back up onto the sand and a couple of more flounder was landed and then the bass came in, in their numbers!
It was literally speed fishing at one point both rods banging away... as soon as the baits was hitting the water the bass was picking them up we couldn’t seem to get through them to the flounders! Great sport but couldn’t bait up quick enough so we both packed in a rod each! We must of had about 13 flounders and 12 bass between us in the space of 2 hours nothing of any size all about 1lb or under
Decided to give Caldy another go this morning as we had my son with me and with plenty of fish about this would keep him busy and it was pretty much the same.. first cast small flounder for my dad.. it was my lads turn next winding in and with a lot of complaints that it felt heavy he managed to land his first ever eel and a good one at that He was chuffed to bits
Then it was another new species off the list for him with a small schoolie
I managed to bag 5 flounders and 6 schoolies
Me dad had a couple of flounders and a handful of schoolies too
Another very busy session rod tips was bouncing all day due to the amount of small bass attacking/picking up the baits!
John wood next to us managed to land a cracking flounder
A super couple of days fishing plenty of action and two new species ticked off the list for the little fella
