I had my first outing too the rock channel today
in search of the smooth hounds as it is that time of year again
and the summer is finely here at long last.

My self, dyl, dave rad, ste akison, tom and paul and two others
all took the deep crossing over to the bank and then made the long walk up the channel
with ste going all the way up the top with one other

we could see ste was already into fish with his first cast up at the top
and we were all hoping we would have good results too.

A really naff cast by myself resulted in about a 20 yard cast at best

what the hell leave it there for a plaice and wait and see what happens
then dave rad pulled in my rig and it did have a plaice on the end.

After that the usual suspects showed up dabs and whiting
and plenty of them also.

Then i had the worlds smallest thornback ray
i would have been gutted if i had too measure that across the wing in a match.

dyl then respond in minutes with the same catch
and another small dab sized thornback ray was out.

After that things went very quite
ste was walking back and told us he had two hounds up the top
so that gave us a bit of hope for the last hour
and as the dabs and the whiting came back on the feed
dyl finally had a good take at last and a good weight on the end of his line
this resulted in a very good hound off 7,10,5.

Still early days but a good start for the first trip over the channel
and good work dyl.
