Longest Specimen Fish - Rob Turner.........Plaice 22cm - £13

So this truly was a case of going from feast to famine. After the fish fest in Round 2 at Talacre we were presented with an absolutely grueling match in Round 3 at Dinas Dinlle.

As we arrived there was initially some optimism as the sky was overcast and there was a slight onshore breeze blowing however that quickly gave way to bright blue skies and scorching sunshine which would make the fishing extremely hard and that's how it proved over the course of the 4 hours.......................

Image

All manner of baits and approaches were tried by the 13 rods to try and find any form of action and to get a fish of any description on their card. People were trying float rigs and floating beads for Garfish, someone put a whole Mackerel out on an 8/0 for a Tope at one point such was the frustration in terms of the lack of activity but there were just no fish present to fish for. The only activity anyone had was from these pesky critters that were either biting peoples snoods off or hooking themselves in the claws........................

Image

With an hour to go there was almost a sense of disbelief when word came down the line that someone had managed to find a fish. Rob Turner had taken a small Plaice of 22cm on black lug and had managed to get a fish on his card. He was understandably pleased given this would in all probability land him the entire pot and the overall win which it subsequently did.......................

Image

Despite everyone else's efforts that was that and we were left ruing what could have been on a day to forget. Weather wise and scenery wise it was a lovely day to be on the beach but the fish just weren't there to catch. That's why its called fishing and not catching....................

Belting day out for the sun and that was one hot day on the beach
and it was still better than being stuck at home :D
you can organise a match months in advance and then be let down by the weather and conditions
that's just the way it goes  remember vale park last winter
but it did make a change that the blistering sun and no wind or surf would be the culprit on the day
well done to adam and all that made the effort.

No fish or chance thereof given the conditions, (it was good to see the dolphins moving through the bay), despite the lack of fish i enjoyed the match and company thanks.
Must get back and fish Dinas into dark, with a lot more movement in the sea it can fish really well.

Tight Lines Nigel

Well done Rob, on the win and the only fish!!

I think we all should have been rewarded with second place and 10pts LOL

Shame about the lack of fish, but beautiful scenery and plenty of sun to enjoy.

Thanks to Adam as always for running series of matches.
